Jarrah's Uplink
Thursday Addendum: I suddenly realised that
the comic wasn't really funny enough, so... Stripes!
Everything John says about Gygax goes similarly
for me as well.
Otherwise, not much to say. Went to a fantastic
performance of the Chekhov play "The Proposal", starring
a dear friend of mine. Got home late. Very Tired. More tired after
doing the comic. Not entirely happy with it, but it'll have to
do. If you want to criticise, or counter my oppinion on that front,
feel free.
I have, finally, run out of recommendable comics.
I'm going to have to read some news ones before next week, appearently.

John's Uplink
This week marks the passing of a man whose works
inspired and sparked so much creativity that it is hard to know
where our debt to him stops. Gary
Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons, the original
Dungeon Master, the man who gave the d20 its place in the heavens,
died this week after a battle with illness. Our thoughts, and
those of the entirety of geekdom, go out to his family and friends,
and to the memories of a man who made so much merriment for so
many. I know this comic would not be here if it were not for this
man; inspired as it was by a roleplaying game. I know that I would
have not had the same outlets for my creativity, and the same
societies to draw upon, had he not put pen to paper and created
Dungeons and Dragons. Geekdom would not be the same without him,
and I would not be either.
If you believe in reincarnation, I ask you to wish him luck when
he rolls up the stats for his next character sheet. |
