Jarrah's Uplink
Link first: Gone
with the Blast Wave a short comic, full of black humour.
Then rant:
Well, for those American readers, which we've
had rather more of than usual lately, if my statcounter is to
be believed, yesterday was Australia day, where we Australians
celebrate... actually, I haven't a clue what its all about. Mostly
it seems to be about standing around in the hot sun, humming the
national anthem (because nobody can remember anything after the
first verse), watching somebody pull on some string so the flag
goes up a pole, then retiring to the shade for tea and sandwiches.
I gave my alarm clock concussion, and thus slept
through all that. What remained of the day what exceptionally
boring, and I felt myself being somewhat envious of my friend
John, who had an Australia day barbeque with friends. Lucky git.
Oh well, here's hoping the coming weeks, with
uni and work and all that other guff are more enjoyable than the
past few days.
Addendum: R.I.P. Heath Ledger. He served as a
visual base for Jamen, once, long ago, and he'll be missed.

John's Uplink
It's not often that there comes an actor truly talented
enough to take on any role; from romantic lead in a gay cowboy
movie, to the twisted nemesis of a superhero; and fill it with
grace and character. The cinematic industry lost such an actor
in the late Heath Ledger, whose deft touch and acting ability
graced the silver screen for but a brief while. Rest in peace.
