Jarrah's Uplink
Well, I have (obviously) returned from John's
party, armed with some neat new drawings, a new book to read (Anansi
Boys by Neil Gaiman, many thanks to Anna for lending it to me),
and two new (well, old) computer games to play: Homeworld:
Cataclysm and Homeworld
2, the fantastic sequels to the utterly awesome game
Homeworld,
from Relic Entertainment.
So, I guess you'll be wanting a comic link today,
huh? How about Dominic
Deegan - Oracle for Hire. It's certainly not scifi,
but I cannot stress how cool I think it is, in that it deals with
plots on a range of scales, from epic to local, with equal interestingness.
I'm also pleased to announce, officially, an
update to the cast page.
Less backstory, more applicable data. And a new picture!

John's Uplink
I'm back! And I feel significantly older, thank
you. A special thank you to everyone who wished me well on my
eighteenth. The last few weeks have certainly been crazy ones,
and the insanity doesn't really look like letting up until, oh,
December... I have my year twelve exams coming up, which of course
determine the entire trajectory of my entire life, so you can
bet I'll be hitting the books hard. Here's hoping I don't break
my fist.
Last Sunday I happened to attend (with my good friend, Jarrah,
in the other column) the "Shootout", a film festival
with a twist. Teams come from around Australia to Geelong to create,
shoot, and edit a film entirely in camera in just twenty-four
ours - 9pm Friday to 9pm Saturday. Given the time constraints,
some of the films were really quite impressive - like "Dark",
a short science fiction film that didn't completely suck.
It had funky props and everything. |
